    常侨居是山,不忍见耳!

    请允许我再次列下一段被余氏引用的故事来说明自己的心情。在周亮工的《因树屋书影》卷二中记载了这么一段话:
     
    “昔有鹦鹉飞集陀山,乃山中大火,鹦鹉遥见,入水濡羽,飞而洒之,天神言:“尔虽有志意,何足云也?”对曰:“常侨居是山,不忍见耳!”天神嘉威,即为灭火。”
     
    其实描述这个故事的同时,我和余氏是同样的心情,都是怀有“中国情怀”的。虽然身在海外,却无一日不想自己的故土,所以每每国内有新的动向和变化,我总免不了倾心的关注。在我的心中,也无一日不想让自己的国家更为强大和昌盛,所以抱着赤子之心,总渴望能多做些什么。我一人的力量自是起不了什么大的作用,而不从我做起,又怎么能期待他人做的更多呢?于是我是怀着“不忍之心”来发出自己的声音,即便这音量多么微弱,也一定要发,理由简单的很:做一个有责任的中国人。
     
    确实中国有太多的问题,我们也因此有太多的理由保持沉默,各做各的一份事去。俗语不是也有说:“事不关己,高高挂起”的吗?我们为什么还要说那些可能谁都听不到或者根本不想听的话呢?我们确实正如那鹦鹉一般没有多大的力气,不可能依靠那羽毛上的水滴来浇灭山中的大火,但是我们也像那些鹦鹉一样,是“侨居是山”的,怎么会没有感情呢?如果真的没有人去想灭火,而去考虑不如换个地方安寝,免得麻烦,那么新的居所再失火又该怎么办呢?再换地方吗?换地方自然不一定就是坏办法,但现实总是要面对的,我并不提倡所谓“浮普精神(浮士德和普罗米修斯)”,认为人定胜天,或者像故事中所表达的理想状态,即上天被人感动而达到目的。我只是想说,倘若没有个人的力量发挥,没有所谓个人自由主义的保障,那么国家是不可能进步的。我们这些在海外的学人都有爱国的心情,也都更希望用个人的力量为国效力,发出声音来体现自己的价值。而没有这一基础,我想富强的理想也必然是遥不可期的罢。
     
    如果我们不相信故事中的神话,那么还是希望大家都能尽自己的一份力量来为中国做些事情。
